I’m a psychologist fueled by a deep sense of compassion and a desire to bring about real healing in the lives of my clients. Cultivating greater awareness in the mind, body, soul and spirit, I can guide you towards creating a more awakened and centered life. By learning how to reduce reactivity to events, situations and people, you can learn to respond consciously to the things you encounter and begin to create the life you want to live. This process can help move you away from reacting to life towards finding peace within yourself, and connecting more powerfully to your true life purpose.
Through the journey of life, we all need to learn how to love ourselves for who we are, not for who we think we "should" be. This includes learning how to accept all parts of yourself, including any inner darkness while I provide a safe and nonjudgemental space. By embracing your challenging personality quirks and qualities, your beautiful qualities begin to be revealed.
With more than 22 years of experience, I work with adults and teenagers. I have a special interest in working with couples experiencing difficult transitions in their relationship. I completed a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas, an M.S. in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin, and a BSW from the University of Minnesota. In addition to my Doctorate, I am also a certified yoga teacher as well as a certified educator in sacred sexuality.
You'll never need to address me by my last name ;-). You may just call me "Barrie," or "Dr. Barrie" if you prefer.
